MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING
A great time was had by all - 61 guests for coffee and cake. The raffle made £142.00, the coffee and cakes £122.78 and we took £432.10 on the Christmas Cards, which was excellent. In addition to the £696.88 which we shall be sending off to Macmillan from the Study Centre, a huge thank you to Sandra and Jill at Salon 2 for holding a coffee morning and raising £52.76.Many thanks to everyone who supported both of these events and helping us to raise very worth while funds for this charity.
Lastly a huge thank you to all those people who helped me and provided raffle prizes and delicious cakes. Also, a huge thank you to Don Cornelius, for doing such great reports in the Banbury Guardian column leading up to the event.

BONFIRE NIGHT.
Well it came and went with a bang! 1pm on the Friday 5th November at Hook Norton Brewery saw the crew of Hook Norton Fire Station assemble for a fire of a different kind, the annual bonfire & fireworks night. It was a busy afternoon setting up not only the bonfire and fireworks but organising the gate, bar, BBQ, sparklers, parking, volunteers & marquee's etc. Then, at 6pm came the first of what turned out to be many villagers descending on what to us could be called organised chaos but turned out as a fantastic night had by all. During which there was a busy bar, busy gate and indeed a busy BBQ team, not that the organisers got to see the Fireworks or Bonfire very much. It was a fantastic night yet again.
This year we have raised over £2,400 from the event, which is to be split equally between the Fire Service Benevolent fund and Cancer Research in memory of David Clarke who for many many years played a big part in staging this event. Thank you.
We would like to say thank you to all who helped out at the night, in particular ourselves the crew (we deserve it!) but Kate & Jessica Rudd, Jackie & Ashleigh Page, Phil Shepherd, Jackie Wise, Nathan & Katie Matthews, Joan & Windsor Matthews, Del & Lara at the Bell Inn, Tom & Gloria at the Village Shop, Cotswold Tool Hire, Banbury Marquee Hire, Rosemary Dilsaver, Hook Norton Brewery & it's staff for their support, Rex Cleaver & Colin Timberlake for the fireworks. There surely is someone we've missed but thanks to everyone who helped and finally to those of you who came and watched the fireworks.
The Crew at Hook Norton Fire Station would just like to say thank you for everyone's support over the last 12 months. Take care. Have a safe Christmas & A Happy New Year, make an escape plan and remember to
PUSH THE BUTTON AND NOT YOUR LUCK!

HOOKY PLAYERS
Rehearsals are now well under way for the group's next production Peter Panto. Unfortunately, due to ill-health Wendy Green has been forced to relinquish the position of Musical Director. This post will be more than ably filled by the very talented Emma Callery. We do still, however, need someone to help on the performance nights backstage, shifting scenery and assisting with backcloths, etc. No experience is necessary and if you feel that you can help in this way please give me a ring.
Sadly I have to record the death of one of our greatly esteemed committee members, Sheila Terry. Her down-to-earth advice has been invaluable to us and she will be sorely missed by us all. Sheila was RADA trained and had a great knowledge of the theatre and could always be counted on to fulfil any role within the group, whether prompting, reading in or indeed just giving sound advice. Our thoughts go out to Mike, Judith, Christopher, Timothy and family at this sad time.
New members are always welcome. Our yearly subscription is a mere £5 which covers liability insurance and protects actors and audiences alike against accident or injury whilst involved with productions.

CHIPPING NORTON FOLK FESTIVAL – 5th FEBRUARY 2005
Following their success at the day of folk in Hook Norton, local bands 'Thinking Jack' and 'Daytella' have been booked to appear alongside BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Best Live Act 2004 winners, Show of Hands. The duo, which consists of multi instrumentalist virtuoso Phil Beer and singer/songwriter Steve Knightley, will top a bill that also boasts Dr. Faustus and Tanna. Tanna are a three-piece band consisting of Steeleye Span fiddle player and folk rock legend Peter Knight, alongside fiddle player Tom Leary and Whippersnapper guitarist Kevin Dempsey. Dr. Faustus is one of the brightest of all young bands emerging in the vast folk scene at the moment. Already nominated for BBC 2 Folk Awards, with Tim Van Eyken of Waterson: Carthy on melodeon and bouzouki virtuoso Benji Kirkpatrick of the Oysterband Big Sessions, they are truly a band not to be missed.
The day will commence at 3pm with not only Hooky's Thinking Jack and Daytella but also other local talent including the Banbury based duo Wee Alex and the Box Hedge Clippers, who single handed created their own genre of music called skuffle.
The festival is being organised by locals and run with the aid of volunteers and staff at the Theatre. Our bands are really excited to be on such a fantastic line-up and the organisers are very hopeful of having a sell out audience due to the calibre of acts on the very first line up and also to encourage bands to come back to the town with their own tour in the future.
Tickets will be £24, available from the Theatre box office on 01608 642350, and cover all eight hours of music. Tickets will be unreserved and exchanged for a wristband to allow audience members to leave the Theatre and be re-admitted as they please.
