BONFIRE NIGHT
We are once again organising this year's bonfire night to be held on Bonfire Night Friday 5th November starting at 6.30pm at the Brewery.
Again we will have a fantastic display with sparklers available to purchase as well as a BBQ and of course Bonfire Bitter all at a reasonable price.
Last year the village raised over £1,600 for the Fire Service Benevolent Fund, which benefits not only firefighters nationally, but locally including their families.

HOOKY PLAYERS
Next January's Pantomime, Peter Panto has now been cast; with one exception. The group still require a tall child of either sex aged between 13 and 15 approximately. The applicant should be able to either dance or move well.
We still desperately need sheets for painting backcloths. These can be of any colour – we'll do the rest. Please don't throw out your old sheets; just remember to give them to us.
The dates for the performances are as follows; Wednesday 26th, Thursday 27th, Friday 28th and two performances on Saturday 29th January 2005, one to include a matinee.

CARRY ON LEARNING
When this new village activity was introduced six months ago, it was on a 'see how things go' basis.
I am delighted to say that the village response and interest has been so good that a programme for the next twelve months has been arranged as follows;

HOOK NORTON BRASS BAND
2O04 has presented a very busy summer for the Band.
Following on from Bill and Janet Randall's open garden and the hugely successful two night joint concert with Banbury Operatic in late June, we played at the Bodicote Songs of Praise open air service on the 18th July and the local Firs Garage open day on the 1st August — a blisteringly hot day with lots to do and see.
Cherington and Stourton Flower Show was our next engagement, again a beautiful summer's day with the additional attraction of vintage vehicles and steam traction engines.
At the kind invitation of David Clarke, we enjoyed a tour of Hook Norton Brewery on the evening of 17th August. Both Band players and family thoroughly enjoyed the tour and Brewery Visitors centre/Museum — many thanks to David and our excellent tour guides Nancy, Barbara, Howard and Nick.
We are auditioning for a replacement Musical Director as I write this article — I hope to be able to introduce the successful applicant in the next newsletter.
We welcome back from maternity leave one of our 2nd Cornets — Jeanette Harbron.
Forthcoming engagements at Burford, Southam and of course Remembrance Sunday are on the horizon, not to mention Christmas!
Please note in your Diary our evening Autumn “Bill Clarke” concert at St.Peters
Church, Hook Norton on 17th October at 7.00pm. You are very welcome. Admission is
FREE with retiring collection to Cancer Research and St. Peters Church.
